Vieira was forced to withdraw from the side to face Birmingham in the Premier League after tugging a muscle in the warm-up. The Frenchman has seen his time at City blighted by a series of niggling injuries, but Mancini insists the latest problem is not serious. "Patrick has felt a knee problem for several days," said Mancini. "We thought it had settled down on Saturday but we decided not to take the risk." Mancini is hoping Vieira will recover in time for next weekend's Manchester derby with Sir Alex Ferguson's United side.
