Manager confident of Ajax cup glory
Toby Alderweireld is confident Ajax's quality will mean they prevail when they meet Feyenoord in the first leg of the final of the KNVB Beker.
While Ajax are 22 points ahead of their rivals in the Eredivisie, that will count for nothing when the teams take the field at the Amsterdam ArenA with the second leg in Rotterdam on May 6.
Alderweireld is confident his side has what it takes to secure a crucial first-leg victory and said: "I think Ajax are a bigger and better club.
"Our game speaks more to the imagination. And this season we are better than they are.
"This year Ajax have played the best and most attractive football in the Netherlands so I think we can win in addition to also winning the championship."
However, Feyenoord defender Leroy Fer is desperate to beat Ajax and said: "Maybe they think differently about it at Ajax, but I think the KNVB Beker is a great prize.
"I also think that we deserve it. We've beaten AZ Alkmaar, PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente, and now we meet Ajax - that is not an easy road. Winning the cup is now the big goal."
The 20-year-old admits the game against Ajax is one the team always wants to win. "PSV [matches] we also want to win, but games against Ajax are special," Fer added.
"I have no feelings for Ajax. It is the only club for which I could never play for."
