The managers of Manchester United and Liverpool have urged their fans to end their distasteful chants at matches following the release of findings about the Hillsborough tragedy.
The rivalry between England's two most successful soccer teams has often spilled over into taunting in the stands. Some United fans sing about the Hillsborough tragedy in 1989. Some Liverpool fans mock their counterparts about the Munich air disaster in 1958 in which eight United players died.
United manager Alex Ferguson says on Friday that the latest revelations about the deaths of 96 Liverpool fans at Hillsborough are a ''line in the sand in terms of how the supporters behave with one another.''
Liverpool hosts United on Sept. 23.
