Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko scored in the final 12 minutes to earn Manchester City a 4-2 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League on Wednesday, keeping alive the English team's slim hopes of finishing top of Group D.

City, fielding a depleted team having already qualified, was twice pegged back by the plucky Czech champions but substitute Negredo tapped home in the 78th minute and Dzeko's header made sure of victory in the 89th.

The result kept City three points behind Bayern Munich ahead of their meeting in Germany in two weeks.

Sergio Aguero's 33rd-minute penalty had earlier been cancelled out by Tomas Horava in the 43rd before Samir Nasri's 65th-minute volley regained the lead for City, only for Stanislav Tecl to level soon after.
