Mallorca says former Spain and Barcelona defender Miguel Angel Nadal has left the club's coaching staff.

Nadal took caretaker charge of the island team for one match after the stormy departure of Danish coach Michael Laudrup in September, overseeing a 2-2 draw at Osasuna on Oct. 1.

Veteran coach Joaquin Caparros was put in charge of Mallorca full time last Tuesday.

The club says Nadal told Caparros, club president Jaume Cladera and vice president Llorenc Serra Ferrer of his decision Monday.

Nadal's exit is not a surprise. His family - he is the uncle of tennis star Rafael Nadal - announced it was leaving Mallorca's board after Laudrup's departure provoked a public rift among the club's directors.
