Major League Soccer All-Stars to play Tottenham in Colorado on July 29
Tottenham will play Major League Soccer's All-Stars on July 29 at Commerce City, Colorado.
The All-Star game will be played at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, the home of the Colorado Rapids, on July 29 (Live, FOX Sports 1, FOX Sports GO, 9 PM ET).
Tottenham will become the 10th international club to be pitted against the best of MLS.
In 2014, the MLS All-Stars battled to a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich in Portland, Ore. The MLS All-Stars are 7-3-1 against international competition and previous opponents include: Manchester United (2010 & 2011), Everton (2009), Chelsea (2006 & 2012), Roma (2012) and Bayern Munich (2014).
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said he was looking forward to bringing his club to the United States over the summer.
"We'd like to thank Major League Soccer for the invitation to take part in the 2015 All-Star Game," Pochettino said in a statement. "The fact that this will be our only fixture outside of Europe during preseason says a lot about how we view this game. We enjoyed three tough matches last summer in North America and the quality of football in MLS continues to grow every year."
"Preseason is an important time for us and we are looking forward to being a part of one of the biggest events on the US football calendar," he continued. "We know the quality of the facilities will be top-class and we see this fixture against the best players from MLS as good preparation."
Tottenham's return will also bring U.S. men's national team player and former Seattle Sounder DeAndre Yedlin back to the States. Yedlin joined Sours in January and made his first-team debut as a substitute in the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on Saturday.
Denver becomes the fourth city to host the All-Star Game for a second time. Only the now-defunct Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., and the newly named MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, have hosted the event more than once.
