Real Madrid will be without midfielder Fernando Gago for two to three weeks due to a knee injury.

Medical scans Tuesday revealed the Argentine player had damaged ligaments in his left knee.

Gago, who was a starter when Madrid won back-to-back league titles in 2007 and '08, has not played a single minute since the arrival of coach Jose Mourinho.

Meanwhile, Mourinho says midfielders Mesut Oezil and Sami Khedira and defenders Pepe and Ricardo Carvalho will be rested for Wednesday's Copa del Rey second leg against third-tier club Murcia.

Mourinho says ''our unique responsibility is to win - we have that pressure because of a scoreless draw away.''

Spanish leader Madrid last won the domestic cup competition in 1993.
