Liverpool v Bolton reaction
Luis Suarez was the inspiration for an electrifying 3-1 win at Anfield that saw summer signings Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam on target either side of powerful Martin Skrtel header. Dalglish, whose Reds renaissance is continuing apace, accepts Suarez may command most of the headlines but wanted to recognise all contributions. Dalglish said: "Some days Luis will play better than somebody else and on another day it will be someone else's turn to show up. "The most important thing is we have got different people that can play and produce a high quality of performance. "In any one season there are going to be individuals that grab the headlines but for us it is a team event. "We passed and moved and thoroughly deserved the victory. Everyone who came would have been thoroughly entertained." Henderson's goal and performance, after the 21-year-old's big-money move from Sunderland, underlined his potential but again Dalglish turned attention to the squad. He said: "It is an important statement to make, scoring a goal, but that doesn't mean to say your career is finished (if you don't). "It will give him encouragement and confidence, but had he not scored it wouldn't have affected us, the way he played. "Goals are more important to some people than others but for us performances are more important than individual glory." Liverpool look set to strengthen further this week with the addition of Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates, who watched from the directors' box. Dalglish added: "We have got a really strong squad and the squad will be more successful than the team. "If you have not got a strong squad you don't get anything, it is straightforward. We are not reliant on any one individual." By contrast, Bolton could face a fight to hang onto their star centre-half Gary Cahill. The Trotters rejected a bid from Arsenal last week and are bracing themselves for a further approach before Wednesday's transfer deadline. Owen Coyle said: "If something happens prior to Wednesday and Gary is to leave the club then I, as a manager, will wish him all the very best. He is a great lad. "But if it doesn't then Gary is all heart and he will be ready to give everything for Bolton Wanderers. "Gary wants to play at the highest level and there is nothing wrong with that ambition and he has been a terrific servant for Bolton Wanderers. "The bottom line is, if someone out there has a price that I think is the right value for Gary Cahill and they make an offer, then there is a chance business will be done. "If they don't, there is nothing to talk about." Cahill struggled throughout the contest and Coyle accepts the uncertainty over his future was probably behind that. He said: "That had an effect on Gary today and he will know that. "He didn't have his best game but there were a number of players like that." Midfielder Fabrice Muamba started despite his son being taken to hospital on Friday night but was withdrawn midway through the first half. Coyle said: "Stuff like that can affect you as human beings, it is only natural. "The preparation this week has not been ideal, but that can happen." Bolton claimed a late Ivan Klasnic consolation but were outplayed but Coyle offered no excuses. Coyle said: "It is disappointing all round. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb with a slow start in the game. "Liverpool came out firing on all cylinders but as good as they were I think we helped to establish that lead for them with poor defending all over. "At this level you are always going to get punished for that." Liverpool duo Henderson and Stewart Downing, meanwhile, were united in their praise of Suarez. "His movement is brilliant, he's always moving and always looking to get in behind," Henderson said of the Uruguayan. "He's a nightmare for defenders." Downing was similarly full of praise for the talisman. "We all know he is a top player," said the Middlesbrough-born winger. "He creates things and he scores goals too, he's had a long summer but it doesn't seem to be affecting him."
