CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) Lightning delayed the U.S. women's soccer team's exhibition game against Costa Rica for nearly 90 minutes Wednesday night.

The U.S. was leading 2-0 on goals by Carli Lloyd and Heather O'Reilly when play was suspended in the 15th minute. After a delay that featured heavy rain and dozens of lightning strikes, play resumed at about 8:50 p.m. Although it was still raining when both teams returned to the field, the lightning had left the area.

The U.S. was playing the second game of its victory tour since winning the Women's World Cup six weeks ago. The U.S. beat Costa Rica 8-0 on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
