Leicester City are so popular now they've run out of jerseys

Want to snag a Leicester City jersey just in time for the Foxes' first-ever league title? Get in line!

Actually, scratch that. The line has already been told to go home. You'll have to wait for next season to get your hands on one of those.

That's because Leicester, one win away from finishing one of the greatest underdog stories in sports history, have completely sold out of every one of their kits for weeks. Yes, even the goalkeeper kit!

While winning legions of new fans worldwide on their improbable title run, Leicester haven't come close to meeting the overwhelming demand for the club's official gear. Whether at the team's flagship store at the King Power Stadium, where even the mannequins have been stripped, its online shop or local retailers, supply has run completely dry.

As Bloomberg reports, one Leicester retailer, JC Sports, sold out of every kit in every size except for an infant version of the team's black alternates, according to shop owner Ashok Chatwani. Until stock ran out in March, the store had sold about 3,000 adult shirts -- 20 percent more than it sold all last season.

A team spokesman said earlier this month that this season's "replica kit sales have broken all records, with unprecedented demand leading to limited availability heading into the final stages of the season." Puma, the club's kit-maker, declined to comment.

Frankly, there's probably nothing that either the club or Puma could have done about the shortage.

Clubs usually purchase all the apparel that they plan to sell throughout the season in the summer, based on sales projections. And nobody could have possibly projected Leicester, relegation favorites in August and a 5000-to-1 long shot to win the league, to become a global sensation.

And so, what should be the perfect time for Leicester to cash in on their newfound popularity, instead has turned into a frustrating exercise of watching customers leave their shops empty-handed as there is nothing left to sell.

The one good news: Leicester's new kit for the 2016/17 season is expected to be revealed on May 7. Perhaps with a shiny new Premier League champions badge.
