Laws urges players to make history
The Clarets are in a perilous position after claiming a meagre four points from a possible 33 since Laws took the helm, yet they remain only three points adrift of safety. With seven matches remaining, starting with Sunday's derby at Turf Moor with bitter local rivals Blackburn, Laws is convinced Burnley can write their name into top-flight folklore. "We are not gearing ourselves to go down; we are gearing ourselves to stay up," Laws told Burnley's official website. "That's how important these next seven games are, and this is a magnificent opportunity. "We have a real chance to do something that has never been done before on this budget. "Much bigger clubs than Burnley have spent bigger and already been relegated by the time March comes around. "Derby and Sunderland are the classic examples of that, yet here we are, with seven games remaining and still in there fighting. "I know the players have the ability to do it and speaking to them as a group, they are unanimous in saying 'Yes, we still believe we can stay in there'. "Everyone has already written us off, but we've a fantastic chance to rewrite history, so let's reignite this campaign, starting against Blackburn." It is a call to arms Laws knows the players will rally to, adding: "Win, lose or draw those players will go out and give everything as they did at Wigan last week. "We are going to go all out to get the results required to stay in the Premier League because the supporters have backed us to the hilt and hopefully at the end of it will be successful. "Whatever happens, it won't be for the want of trying."
