Laporta vows to challenge legal action

Joan Laporta says he will challenge any legal action taken by Barcelona over outstanding losses which it attributes to the club's former president.

Club members voted Saturday to take legal action against the previous board of directors - presided over by Laporta until June 30 - following announced losses of €79.6 million ($112.2 million).

Laporta calls the decision "immoral." He says his team ran the Catalan club "impeccably" and the current board - led by Sandro Rosell - is only damaging Barcelona's image with the unprecedented action.

Laporta says "the current board is trying to destroy what we created ... the best Barcelona in history."
