Lampard gunning for FA Cup glory
Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard believes that winning the Double would be a massive psychological boost heading into the World Cup.
Lampard has played a massive role in the Blues' Premier League title-winning campaign - contributing 25 goals in all competitions.
The 31-year-old has now set his sights on winning the FA Cup final on Saturday which he says will set him up nicely for the World Cup.
"I think if we lost that would be the freshest thing on my mind and that would be horrible," he told Sky Sports News.
"That makes us even more focused on finishing the job but it's not as easy a game as some would make out."
The England midfielder also poured cold water on suggestions John Terry might miss the World Cup. Terry was thought to have sustained serious damage to his right foot when striker Daniel Sturridge fell on him in training earlier this week. Lampard, though, made light of the situation, saying it was not as serious as first thought.
"That's the way of the world now, a player could break a fingernail and everyone would panic. Especially a player as good as John Terry," he said.
"It was a brief scare but it's all behind us now." As the FA Cup final draws near, so does this summer's feature event and with it an enormous amount of pressure on the England squad to reach their target.
Lampard says he is taking it one step at a time, starting with winning the FA Cup which he believes would see this year go down as one of the greatest in Chelsea's history.
"It's huge. It's never been done in our history as a club and obviously not with this bunch of players," he said.
"It's something we really want to do. I grew up watching teams win the Double in the 70s and 80s.
"If we can put ourselves amongst those names it could go down as one of the biggest years in the club's history."
