Wigan climbed provisionally out of the Premier League's relegation zone by beating Norwich 1-0 on Saturday, with Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone grabbing a late winner.

Kone drove home a low finish in the 81st minute to seal Wigan's third win in its past four matches, accelerating the team's traditional end-of-season march to safety.

Roberto Martinez's side is now level on points with third-from-bottom Aston Villa, which hosts Liverpool on Sunday, and seven points clear of Queens Park Rangers and Reading.

Norwich couldn't turn its dominance into goals at DW Stadium, with midfielders Robert Snodgrass and Bradley Johnson wasting second-half chances.
