Koeman eyes European place
The Rotterdammers have made a solid start and lie fourth after five rounds, two points behind leaders Ajax. Feyenoord endured a miserable season in 2010/11, flirting with relegation before a late rally enabled them to finish 10th. And Koeman, who was placed in charge in July, is satisfied with their form so far this term. He told AD Sportwereld: "I don't think we are too high. We haven't stolen any points. "In fact had we managed to produce a winning goal against Heerenveen at home (a 2-2 draw) we would have two more points and be even higher." Former Holland defender Koeman is confident his side can stay around the upper echelons of the table and has pinpointed a European play-off spot as a realistic aim. He added: "The objective is to reach the play-offs for European football but that can be achieved in several ways. "If we are ninth in the league, we can get in the play-offs but nobody would be satisfied. I think Feyenoord need to be fifth or sixth. "As a coach you should never saddle a team or it will hang around the neck like a noose but I think fifth or sixth is realistic. "We have a squad of talented young players."
