Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has declared himself "happy" with his team's start to the season ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Bolton at Anfield (Live on FOX Soccer, 12:30pm ET).
Dalglish's team was held to a 1-1 draw at home by Sunderland in its opening game of the campaign, but has since beaten Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium and won 3-1 at Exeter in the second round of the Carling Cup.
Dalglish - who invested heavily in new players over the summer and looks set to make further additions to his squad before the transfer deadline next week - is pleased with what he has seen so far.
"I suppose everybody is always looking for a little bit more, but we're happy with what we've got," Dalglish said.
"We've been absolutely delighted with - but not surprised by - the way the players have gone about their work in training and in games and we're happy with the way they've started the season."
Somebody who has certainly hit the ground running is Luis Suarez.
The striker returned late to pre-season training with the Reds having been involved in the Copa America with Uruguay, who was crowned champion after defeating Paraguay in the final.
The competition was also a personal success for Suarez as he scored four times and came away with the most valuable player award.
Dalglish has admitted he will need to "look after" the former Ajax frontman this term to ensure Liverpool gets the best out of him.
But with the 24-year-old - recruited in January - already matching his tally for the Merseyside outfit from last season by netting his third goal in as many games in the victory over Exeter, it seems his form has simply carried through from his exploits with his country.
Asked if he had expected it to take longer for Suarez to get up to speed again, Dalglish said: "Not particularly. He was on a high when he came back from the Copa America - he was voted player of the tournament and his team won it.
"He is always going to score goals and three in three is certainly a reasonable return from him."
Reports have suggested Dalglish may soon be bringing another Uruguay international to Liverpool.
Suarez's compatriot Sebastian Coates - a 20-year-old defender - is thought to be close to completing a transfer from Nacional, although Dalglish would not be drawn on the matter at his pre-match press conference on Thursday.
There is also talk of the Reds being interested in re-signing Manchester City forward Craig Bellamy, while in terms of outgoing personnel, Alberto Aquilani has completwed his loan move to AC Milan.
The Reds will be without another midfielder, Raul Meireles, against Bolton.
Meireles suffered a collarbone injury at Exeter on Wednesday and Dalglish expects him to be sidelined for a few weeks.
Dalglish will check on the condition of Glen Johnson (hamstring), while Steven Gerrard (groin) is still working his way back to fitness.
Marcos Alonso has become the latest Bolton defender to be hit by the club's injury jinx.
The former Real Madrid man faces eight to 12 weeks out after suffering a broken metatarsal in the Carling Cup victory over Macclesfield.
He joins Tyrone Mears (broken leg), Sam Ricketts (Achilles) and Gretar Steinsson on the sidelines, although the Icelander could come into contention for the visit to Anfield after suffering bruising to his foot against Manchester City.
Tuncay Sanli will hope to retain his starting role after scoring on his debut against Macclesfield in midweek, but Ricardo Gardner may miss out again as he struggles to overcome a groin problem.
