Tottenham mark their return to the Champions League by playing their first game at Wembley Stadium.

This Wednesday will mark Tottenham’s return to the Champions League for only the second time in their club’s history.

With White Hart Lane undergoing construction to make room for their brand new stadium that is being built on the same site, Spurs had to find a temporary home to host their European matches.

Wembley Stadium became the top choice and to have all 90,000 seats available for Spurs’ opening match, as well as Kane’s English compatriots being there, will make Wembley feel like a second home according to Harry Kane.

“If there are 85-90,000 Tottenham fans in there it’s only going to make you play better,” Kane said (via Evening Standard).

“A lot of us have played there already, so it feels like even more of a home.”

“Everyone knows how iconic Wembley is, but that’s what we’ve got to be careful of, Monaco are going to come here and it’s a big occasion for them as well.”

“We have to make sure we’re ready for that.”

Tottenham will have momentum on their side being the home team, but also coming off of a 4-0 win over Stoke City this past Saturday.

A game that slowly went into Spurs’ favor after the opening 10-20 minutes before being a runaway in the second half.

Since Spurs are back in the Champions League after a six year hiatus, a majority of their players are experiencing this moment for the first time in their careers.

It’s to be expected that everyone is excited for the occasion and can’t wait to take the pitch in just two days.

“The lads are excited and we wanted a good result here [against Stoke],” Harry Kane added

“Now we can go there on Wednesday and enjoy the record-breaking crowd; it’s going to be an amazing atmosphere and the lads cannot wait to play in that one now.”

“There’s a buzz about that one and coming off the back of a 4-0 win you can’t ask for much more. We have to prepare well for Wednesday now.”

“We’re not there just to participate. We want to go as far as we can, we feel we have a group that we can definitely qualify from. A good start is important.”

Son Heung-Min who is among a handful of players to have previous Champions League experience is back in Europe’s elite competition after a two-year absence.

But playing in Wembley Stadium, this will be a first for him and he can’t wait.

“For every player, it’s a dream to play in the Champions League,” Son said.

“For me also, it’s two years since I played in the Champions League. I can’t wait for this night.”

“My first time I went training at Wembley, the stadium was unbelievable.”

“I’m excited to play there, so many fans will be there and we have to win this game.”
