Japan striker Shinji Kagawa will miss the Asian Cup final after injuring his right foot in the semifinal win over South Korea.

Kagawa ''fractured his right 5th metatarsus'' and was receiving treatment, the Japan Football Association said on Wednesday.

It said he would not play in Saturday's match against Australia but could not say how long he will be sidelined or whether it will impact his Bundesliga season.

Kagawa, who has emerged as a star with Borussia Dortmund after scoring eight goals, played a critical role in Japan's quarterfinal win over Qatar. In that match, he scored two goals and set up another.
