Juve rules out Chiellini transfer

Juventus have dismissed reports defender Giorgio Chiellini could move to the Barclays Premier League in the January transfer window.

Reports have claimed Manchester City and local rivals United are battling it out to sign the £12million-rated Italy international in the New Year.

New City boss Roberto Mancini reportedly wants Chiellini to shore up his backline, while United were said to be considering a move to beef up their defensive options.

However, after goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was also linked with a transfer away from the club, Juventus have moved to state the duo are not for sale.

The Serie A giants' sporting director Alessio Secco insists the club have no intention of letting their key players leave the Stadio Olimpico.

"We are used to reading of possible interest in our players from other clubs," Secco told the club's official website.

"Like Buffon or Chiellini, just to mention today's examples.

"I want to assert this is totally fake news and I take the chance to reaffirm that Juventus won't give its champions away, that we'll keep on working to achieve our targets."
