Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta believes the squad requires improvement during the summer if they are to challenge for honours.

Juve are currently languishing in seventh place in Serie A after a string of disappointing results, including throwing away a 2-0 lead to struggling Cesena on Saturday.

Marotta told La Gazzetta dello Sport that to solve the shortcomings of this season the club needs to lure four big-name signings in the summer.

"Juventus need at least another four great players. Above all, people of experience who know how to better manage the most difficult situations," he said.

Champions League qualification is now the ambition in the remaining weeks of the season as the 2-2 draw at Cesena followed three straight league defeats at the hands of Lecce, Bologna and AC Milan.

That run of results has seen the Juventus supporters turn on manager Luigi Del Neri, who was quick to dismiss the backlash from the crowd, telling the club's official website: "The whistles? They are part of the game, maybe let them applaud after the final whistle.

"We played well in midfield [against Cesena] and I know that this team can work well from now until the end of the season."
