American midfielder Jermaine Jones returned from an ankle injury that caused him to miss two games and started as Schalke beat St. Pauli 3-0 Friday night to win its first home game in the Bundesliga this season.
Jones, who made his U.S. national team debut last month, hurt two right ankle ligaments in the Oct. 23 match against FSV Frankfurt. He missed a 1-0 Bundesliga loss to Bayer Leverkusen and a 0-0 tie at Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Champions League.
Jones started Friday and played until the 81st minute for 15th-place Schalke (2-6-3), which got two goals from Raul Gonzalez and one from Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. St. Pauli is 13th at 4-6-1.
