Jol keen to reprise Reds result
The Cottagers have struggled to cope with domestic and European exertions this season, picking up just their third league victory on Monday night. Clint Dempsey's last-gasp goal earned Fulham a 1-0 win against the Reds and Jol hopes they can build on that result at the Liberty Stadium. "We needed that win," the Dutchman said. "It is not easy to play against Liverpool and before the match you probably think a point [would be good]. "They were on a very good run and they are very well organised defensively so to have a win against them was what we needed. "We are in a better position now and I think that even in the games before we should have had [similar results]. "Every game is different but I feel we have the quality. Swansea are an attacking team and play in a different style. "They may have lost to Blackburn last week, but they managed to score goals despite that. "You can compare them to Blackpool last year and how they played for the first six months. "Two wing players, three midfielders and for them the main thing is probably the passing. "It is not easy to play against them but I feel over the past six weeks we have controlled other teams even when they played in a different system. "We still played our football so we are very positive." Jol's hopes of successive victories will rely on them finding a way past Swansea goalkeeper Michel Vorm. The Holland international has impressed since his summer move from Utrecht and Jol was full of praise for his compatriot. "I have not been surprised at how well he has been doing because he is an international goalkeeper," he said. "He is in the Dutch squad all of the time, he was one of the best goalkeepers in Holland so I was not surprised. "Of course it is a different ball game over here and sometimes players need a couple of months to adapt. "But, I have to say, he was pretty good from the start. "He had one big mistake at the beginning but he probably gained points for his team. I think he is a very good goalkeeper." Only Manchester United have managed more clean sheets than Swansea's six this season. Fulham have also managed six Premier League shutouts so far despite the fact circumstances have seen their backline shuffle regularly. Mark Schwarzer and Brede Hangeland have been the only mainstays in the Cottagers' defence, with the latter admitting this week that a regular back four will help them sure up further. Asked about whether he agree with Hangeland, Jol said: "Of course I have in my mind who the ideal back four would be, but Brede did not say we have to play with the same back four. "He said it would be ideal and I think he is right, but it is impossible if you play 28 or 29 games before Christmas. "We had to change with [John Arne] Riise's injuries, Chrissy Baird with his problems, Aaron Hughes was injured, [Philippe] Senderos was injured and Brede was probably the only one with Schwarzer that played at the back all the time. "What he meant was in an ideal world we would could play the same players all the time, but it was impossible. "If you make a good interpretation, you can see what he meant so we are on the same wavelength."
