Jol holding Hangeland hope

Martin Jol appreciates that Fulham are doing all they can to keep Brede Hangeland and is hoping for positive news on the contract front.

The Cottagers remain locked in extension talks with their Norwegian centre-half, with Hangeland's current deal set to expire in the summer.

Fulham are desperate to avoid losing such a talent for nothing, but have been unable to put fresh terms in place.

Discussions have stalled at present, but Jol acknowledges that negotiations rarely run smoothly.

He is still confident that an agreement can be reached, allowing Hangeland to stretch his five-year stay at Craven Cottage.

Jol told Fulham's official website: "It's always the same with negotiations, they are going on and hopefully something will come off.

"(Chief executive) Alistair (Mackintosh) is doing the negotiations and he will tell me straight away if something happens."
