Former Denmark midfielder John Jensen has been hired as the new assistant manager of Premier League side Blackburn.

Jensen has previously held the same position at Spanish side Getafe and Danish club Brondby, and signed an initial contract with Rovers through to the end of the season.

The 45-year-old Jensen was part of the Denmark side which won the 1992 European Championships, scoring the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Germany in the final.

He had a successful spell in England's top division as a player with Arsenal between 1992-96.
