Japanese teenager Takashi Usami has confirmed he is to join Bayern Munich on a six-month loan deal.

The Gamba Osaka forward, 19, will make the switch after the J.League clash with Vissel Kobe next month.

He told a news conference on Monday: "You don't get a chance like this every day.

"I decided it was the right thing to do to take on this big challenge. To be honest it still hasn't sunk in.

"For me, it is still hard to imagine I will be playing in such a big league with so many big-name players."

Usami, whose deal is likely to be made permanent if he impresses, will have to compete for a place initially with the likes of France international Franck Ribery and Holland star Arjen Robben but he is relishing the fight.

He added: "I want to improve my game and, one day, take their place."

Bayern starts its pre-season training today under new coach Jupp Heynckes.
