James says England-Germany history will be ignored

England goalkeeper David James says his team will ignore the historical significance of playing Germany and try and approach the round of 16 match at the World Cup on Sunday as ``just another game.''

Matches between the two teams have traditionally been dramatic.

England scored a disputed goal in the 1966 World Cup final, Germany came from 2-0 down to win at the 1970 tournament, and the Germans won penalty shootouts at the 1990 event and the 1996 European Championship.

James said Friday that it's just ``another football match'' against ``a decent outfit'' in Bloemfontein that England would try and win to reach the quarterfinals.
