The Italian media has hailed "beautiful" AC Milan after the Rossoneri's title-clinching goalless draw at Roma on Saturday night.

Milan went into the contest needing just one point from their last three games to clinch a first scudetto since 2004.

The press also focused on the relationship between Brazilian striker Alessandro Pato and Barbara Berlusconi - the daughter of Milan owner and Italy's prime minister Silvio Berlusconi.

"Pato and Barbara share a kiss," Gazzetta dello Sport said as part of its main headline, which also had: "Milan e bellissimo (Milan is beautiful!)"

The paper's editorial saluted coach Massimiliano Allegri, who replaced Leonardo last summer and captured his first title. It read: "A new cycle begins with Allegri.

"The coach deserves a 10."

Rome's Corriere dello Sport congratulated Milan as they ended Inter's dominance in the league.

Inter had won the previous five league titles.

Corriere said on its front page: "Triumph after a seven year wait. Scudetto number 18. Milan champion!"

Corriere's editorial commented on Milan's consistency this season.

Milan have won 23 times and lost just four games out of 36.

"The best team won," the newspaper said.

Tuttosport's headline is accompanied by a photo of Milan players throwing Allegri up in the air with the headline at the top of the front page saying: "Milan 18."

Milan won crucial games over recent weeks, including a 3-0 triumph over Inter, without striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Ibrahimovic is Milan's joint leading scorer alongside Pato with 14 goals.

The former Inter star was banned for a total of five matches during the run yet the Rossoneri were convincing in their performances without the Swede.

National newspaper La Repubblica said: "Milan is champion, not only (Zlatan) Ibra (Ibrahimovic)."

A columnist highlighted the mix of the old guard and youth as Milan won the league crown and ended Inter's hegemony.

"The young and the old," it said.

"This scudetto is more beautiful because it's taken away from Inter."
