Italian federation seeks more labor talks

The president of the Italian football federation is pushing for more labor talks to avoid another strike by Serie A players.

The season began two weeks late, shortly after players and owners signed a temporary collective contract that will expire June 30.

The agreement stipulated that the sides would reach a deal over the following 30 days on the last remaining conflict - a clause concerning the rights of players to train with the first team.

But federation president Giancarlo Abete tells state radio that the sides haven't even met over the last month, ''which confirms that Article 7 wasn't the real reason behind this disagreement.''

Abete says he wants the sides to ''get working immediately'' to ''avoid having another scene like the one we just saw.''
