Giorgos Merkis had set the hosts on their way with a ninth minute goal and Dimitris Christofi (86) completed the scoring with a late fifth from the penalty spot.

In the early kick off in Group H, Norway picked up a valuable 1-0 win at Azerbaijan through a first-half header by Havard Nordtveit of Borussia Monchengladbach.

Turkey, meanwhile, defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 to move off the foot of the group, with Burak Yilmaz netting a first-half brace.
