Improving Bayern calm Rummenigge
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he is no longer panicking, despite Friday night's 0-0 draw with Hamburg leaving Bayern Munich 12 points adrift.
After making the worst start to a Bundesliga season in the club's history, a win and a draw in the past two games has settled Rummenigge's nerves.
"There is no need to take Valium to calm us down now," he said.
"I am confident that we are now getting into gear. Several injured players are due to return and so the coach has more alternatives."
Rummenigge is not interested in whether league leaders Borussia Dortmund and Mainz extend their leads at the top today, although he has set the team a target for the end of the year.
"Whether we are now 13, 12 or 10 points behind - that is still too much," he said.
"We now have the goal of reducing that gap to five or six points come the winter break.
"We have got to show the strengths of FC Bayern and not just hope that the other teams drop points."
Nevertheless, Rummenigge says the German Football League (DFL) is not helping with its fixture scheduling.
Bayern were forced to play Hamburg on Friday night just three days after their Champions League clash with Cluj and they are in action again next Friday the same distance after a DFB-Pokal tie.
"I have told Mr (Christian) Seifert (DFL's managing director) and he says that I am right," he said.
"Our team is by far and away the most burdened. We are in all competitions and consist of almost exclusively international players.
"More respect must be shown so that the players can have more time to recover.
"At the end of the day, we are also being asked to pick up UEFA ranking points to give the Bundesliga a fourth Champions League start.
"I would like a bit more sensitivity from the DFL in future and more games for us on a Saturday at 15:30."
