Holloway ready for 'mismatch'
Roberto Mancini's multi-millionaires visit Bloomfield Road for the first time in the Premier League with the sides only four points apart following Blackpool's stunning start to the season. The Seasiders have won three away games, most recently against Liverpool at Anfield two weeks ago, and are now looking for their first home victory of the season. They will have fewer tougher tests than City, who currently sit second in the table and on track to qualify for the Champions League for the first time. Holloway said: "They've got fantastically wealthy owners, they were the biggest spenders by a mile this summer and they're hoping that will buy them all sorts of success and trophies. "And then there's us trying to stay in the division and trying to hang on to our new-found heights, so to speak. "To me it's just one team against another, but from an outsider's point of view, it probably is the biggest mismatch in the history of football, but let's see what we can do." Blackpool have provided the surprise story of the Premier League so far, and they have achieved their results without Holloway compromising his commitment to attacking football. But he knows it is their work ethic that is the Tangerines' biggest asset, and he has stressed to his players that there must be no let-up. "If we don't work hard on Sunday I can tell you what the score's going to be," he said. "I can't tell you how many it will be, but Manchester City will win." Holloway was almost downbeat after Blackpool's stunning win at Anfield, but he revealed that was simply because he could not quite believe what had happened - a reaction he is having to get used to. He continued: "When you see your team play that well, when you then get things wrong, and they come at you in red waves, and the crowd, and everything about it is pretty hard to take in. "But it's been really nice and confidence-wise it's done the lads the world of good. "If you'd have told me at the start of the season we'd go to Anfield and win, I'd have thought you were on something that's probably not legal. "We're very serious about what we do and I was probably too serious at the end of that game because it was so hard to take in. "We've won three away games now, and again if you'd told me that at the start of the season I'd have thought you'd been sniffing something. "And if we beat Manchester City that will be another one." One thing Holloway is determined not to lose is the exuberance and thrill of playing in the top flight that has seen his side collect 10 points from seven games. He added: "If they can keep doing the things we do and do them well enough then it'll be down to Manchester City to try and stop us. "If they can stop us and outdo what we're doing then that's an entertaining game, and that's what we're here for, entertaining football. "We can't wait for the next game. Whether we win, whether we lose, whether it's 6-0 or 2-1, who cares. We're a Premier League side and we can't wait to see how we fare this week. We have been hammered, we have won, and we want to get better."
