Cathcart, 21, was officially unveiled at Bloomfield Road yesterday after arriving from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee. The defender signed a three-year deal with the option for a further year having been impressed by Holloway, Blackpool's colourful manager, who has scotched rumours he was about to resign by committing his future to the club. "I'm sure all of the players love him because I've only known him a few days and he is growing on me a lot," Cathcart said. "He is one of the main reasons I have come here. He wanted me to come and he is passionate about what he wants to do here." Despite rising through the ranks at Old Trafford after joining as a trainee, Cathcart never made a senior appearance for United and is now hoping for a run in Blackpool's starting XI that will also boost his chances of winning a first cap for Northern Ireland. "At this stage of my career I need to be playing football matches, so hopefully coming here will give me the opportunity to play a lot of first-team games," he said. "I haven't had a cap so far at full international level, so if I'm in the team every week in the Premier League then it is going to be hard for the manager not to look at me and hopefully he will put me in the squad." After their surprise promotion last term, Holloway has promised Blackpool will play attacking football in their first Barclays Premier League campaign - which begins with Saturday's trip to Wigan - and Cathcart feels it will be important for the Tangerines to enjoy themselves if they are to defy the odds again and stay up. "There is no pressure on us and we are the underdogs again, like Blackpool were last season," Cathcart said. "You saw what happened last year where there was no pressure on the team - enjoy your football and you never know what can happen. "The target for me is the same as for everybody that will be playing with me - to keep this team in the Premier League and hopefully kick on from there." Cathcart is one of five signings Blackpool announced yesterday, along with Ludovic Sylvestre from Czech side Mlada Boleslav, Elliot Grandin from CSKA Sofia, Malaury Martin from Monaco and former Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood - the club's first new arrivals this summer. Holloway had previously been struggling to strengthen his squad, but said he was hurt anyone could think such difficulties would have been enough to make him leave. "Our poor fans, who have been worried sick, on websites, asking what's happening and writing me letters - did they think that I didn't want to (sign players)?" said Holloway, who also described the relationship between himself and Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston as "absolutely fantastic". "Did they think that I haven't been trying? I couldn't try any harder and the harder you try, the more lucky you get. "But you have to be together in this and what has hurt me a little bit is that they think for one minute that, with how long I have worked in football and how hard I've worked, I am suddenly going to walk out on a relationship that I've got here with the fans, the chairman and the team. "They think that I'm going to give that up? I'm sorry, how wrong is that?"
