Hoilett happy at Rovers
The 21-year-old forward forced his way into Steve Kean's first-team plans towards the end of last season, notching five goals in 17 starts. Having displayed what he is capable of when given a regular run in the side, Hoilett's star is on the rise. Kean is all too aware of how easily promising youngsters can be lured away from Ewood Park once they make a name for themselves and has moved quickly to prevent such a scenario from arising. He has met with Hoilett's father and agent in his native Canada to discuss a new deal and force home just how important the talented playmaker is to the Rovers cause. It appears as though his efforts have been worthwhile, as Hoilett has revealed that he is prepared to talk terms. "I am happy at Blackburn Rovers playing for them consistently and of course I would be prepared to sign a new contract," he said. "Right now I am focused on playing for Blackburn and making a name for myself in the league. The national side will come after that and I am focusing on Blackburn. "I just kept focused, listened to my family and friends and when I got my shot I had to take it. "I had to work hard and capitalise on every opportunity I got. I did that and showed a consistent performance to keep myself in the side."
