Hodgson: Gera not ready yet

The Hungarian midfielder returned to The Hawthorns over the summer but has been laid low since undergoing an ankle operation. It was hoped that he would be back in training ahead of Saturday's trip to Sunderland. Those plans have had to be shelved, though, with Hodgson confirming that Gera will play no part until after the upcoming international break. "Gera is still in rehabilitation and there's no chance of Zoltan being ready for Saturday's game at Sunderland," he told the club's official website. "He hasn't trained now for almost three weeks since he had the recurrence of the ankle injury in training. "He was making good progress but he had a recurrence of his injury and since then it must have been a good two/two-and-a-half weeks since he trained. "He can't go straight into a game. "We will have to wait for the international break and I'm pretty confident that come the end of the international break he'll be raring to go." Meanwhile, Hodgson has warned Gabriel Tamas that he will not waltz straight back into his starting XI following a three-match ban. He said: "Both Craig Dawson and (Gareth) McAuely have done very, very well. "Both had to wait for their chance because I was a little bit fairer to the lads who played last year and gave them chances first. "Gabriel unfortunately lost his place to those two when he got sent off (against Norwich) and I've got to say it would be hard to leave McAuley out following his performance against Fulham when he was voted man of the match. "I thought that was quite a good decision."
