The decision must be ratified by the club's general assembly, which is expected to happen this month or next, for Henrichs to officially take charge of the Eredivisie champions. Henrichs returned to the Ajax board in November 2005, having left the organisation in 2000 when he was seen as being linked to the unsuccessful appointment of Jan Wouters as coach. He previously played in the club's youth and amateur sides, without ever reaching the first team. A reformed board under Henrichs is set to feature three other long-serving directors - corporate law specialist Cees van Oevelen, former banker Hein Blocks and three-time Olympic swimmer Cees Vervoorn - alongside three former players. The nomination committee consisted of Coronel, Van Oevelen, Cor van Eijden, Keje Molenaar, Ruud Haarms, Mark Henrichs and Mark Geestman.
