Reports from the Pernambuco stadium on the city's outskirts said that the conditions on the field were soft but surprisingly good despite the torrential downpours. Heavy rain has been failing in Recife for some hours.
There appears to be no danger of this match being postponed; however, fans should expect to see empty seats in the stands, and the heavy rain is likely to slow game play.
