Hannover striker Mame Diouf has turned down an offer for an early contract extension from the Bundesliga club.

Sports director Joerg Schmadtke confirmed to Kicker magazine that Diouf rejected a new deal with better conditions.

The Senegal striker has a contract through the end of the next season. Media reports say he was ready to renew the deal, but with a clause that would have allowed him to leave after this season for a set transfer fee. The club rejected that.

Diouf has been linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund as a possible replacement for Robert Lewandoski, should he leave the club at the end of the season.
