Arsenal are being linked with moves for two French Ligue 1 stars - Bordeaux midfielder Yoann Gourcuff and Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has already made one recruit from the Stade Chaban-Delmas this summer, snapping up Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh on a free transfer on Friday.

With Cesc Fabregas edging closer to a switch to Barcelona, Wenger is now said to be looking for a replacement and £25million-rated Gourcuff features high on his list of targets.

The 23-year-old, who has won 17 caps for his country to date, has been a huge hit at Bordeaux since making an initial move back to France on loan from AC Milan two years ago.

Gourcuff helped the south-west club to the league title in his first season and was also named Ligue 1's best player, but changes are afoot after a disappointing 2009/10 campaign which saw Bordeaux finish sixth, missing out on Europe. Manager Laurent Blanc has already agreed to take the national-team job following the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Gomis is also being tipped for a possible switch to the Emirates Stadium. The 24-year-old has only spent one season at Lyon after moving from Saint-Etienne for £11million last summer, scoring 10 goals.
