Gremio says it has paid Maxi Lopez to resolve their contract dispute and threatens to complain to FIFA if the Argentine striker refuses to stay at the two-time Brazilian champions.

Gremio said Friday that Lopez had agreed to remain if he received €1.5 million but the striker is reportedly negotiating a transfer to Italian club Lazio.

Lopez's contract ended Thursday but he has previously said he wanted to stay at Gremio. The former Barcelona striker moved to the club in the offseason from FC Moscow.

Gremio director Alberto Guerra has told Brazilian media the club may file a complaint to FIFA if the 25-year-old Lopez ends up moving to another club, saying he would have two contracts at the same time.
