West Ham manager Avram Grant will be absent from Saturday's match against Stoke because it falls on Yom Kippur - the holiest day of the year in Judaism.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, begins this year at sundown on Friday and ends at sundown on Saturday. West Ham's Premier League match is due to kickoff at 12:45 p.m.
The bottom-place London club is still chasing its first point after four games.
But West Ham said Wednesday that the Israeli Grant will be missing "out of respect for the traditions, heritage and religious obligations of the Jewish holy day."
