West Ham manager Avram Grant has been banned for two matches from the touchline for criticizing a referee after his side's defeat in the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Grant was unhappy with the display of match official Mike Jones in West Ham's 2-1 loss to Stoke at Britannia Stadium on March 13.

England's Football Association banned the Israeli on Monday, meaning he won't be in the dugout for Premier League matches against Bolton and Aston Villa over the next two weekends. He was also fined 6,000 pounds ($9,700).

Grant was particularly upset his team wasn't awarded a penalty in the second half of the match, claiming Jones ''maybe ... felt a little bit guilty'' after allowing the Hammers a disputed equalizer scored by Frederic Piquionne.
