Cruz Azul, runner-up in the Mexico Apertura last weekend, has
purchased Argentine midfielder Christian Gimenez from fellow Mexico
club Pachuca.
In announcing the transfer of Gimenez on Thursday, Cruz Azul
signaled its intent to capture Mexico's 2010 Clausura championship.
One of Mexico's big four clubs, Cruz Azul has not won a title in 12
years and lost the 2009 Apertura title on Sunday to Monterrey.
Gimenez has played in Mexico for Veracruz, America and
Pachuca. He played for Boca Juniors, Independiete and Union in
Argentina.
