Ghana's Mubarak Wakaso was already facing a one-game suspension for his second yellow card of the group stage but could also face further punishment after revealing a religious slogan in a goal celebration.

Wakaso pulled his team shirt over his head to reveal a T-shirt with the words ''Allah is Great!'' after scoring from a penalty in Ghana's Group B meeting with Mali on Thursday.

Wakaso was shown a yellow card by the referee for his celebration, ruling him out of Ghana's likely crucial group game. It wasn't clear if the booking was for pulling his shirt over his head or for the slogan he displayed.

FIFA rules don't allow players to make religious or political statements during a game.
