The 30-year-old midfielder tore a hamstring on international duty in England's friendly against France on November 17. He has missed four Premier League matches, which have brought two wins and two defeats. Despite manager Roy Hodgson playing down Gerrard's chances in midweek, the player has stepped up his training programme in the last few days. His return for the visit of Fulham to Anfield could not have been timed better with a busy festive period coming up. Goalkeeper Jose Reina, who captained the side in the league in the absence of Gerrard and the injured Jamie Carragher, is looking forward to his inspirational team-mate's return. "It'd be a massive lift to have him back," said the Spain international, who is set to make his 200th Premier League appearance on Saturday. "He's a key player for us and when he's in the team it's much easier for us. "The confidence and the commitment he gives to this club - you have to drag yourself to the level of his passion."
