Gera: No rush with new deal

Zoltan Gera remains confident that he will be offered a new deal at West Bromwich Albion and is unfazed by being out of contract.

The Hungarian forward is officially a free agent after failing to land fresh terms at The Hawthorns during the 2012/13 campaign.

He has, however, travelled with the Baggies squad to their Austrian training camp and has been informed by boss Steve Clarke that he is in his plans.

For that reason, Gera is giving little thought to anything other than working his way back to full fitness in time for the start of the new Premier League season.

MTI quoted Gera as saying: "It says more than words that West Brom have taken me to the Austrian training camp despite my contract having expired.

"Steve Clarke has stressed a couple of times that he wants me to stay at the club, but he doesn't want me to rush my comeback."

On his recovery from a serious knee injury, he added: "I'm over the three-quarter mark in this rehabilitation and in four to five weeks I'll be able to not only do the warm-ups, but also the full training with the squad."
