Genoa has made its second coaching change of the season, sacking Luigi Del Neri and reportedly rehiring Davide Ballardini.
The club announced Del Neri's dismissal shortly after Sunday's 2-0 defeat at home to Catania, which left the team in 18th place in Serie A, three points off safety.
Del Neri replaced the sacked Luigi De Canio in October but failed to turn the team's season around, winning only two of his 13 games in charge and losing nine.
Italian media reported that the club has already hired Ballardini, who coached Genoa in 2010-11, guiding it to 10th place in Serie A before he was freed from his contract at the end of the season.

It is the eighth coaching change in Serie A this season and the fifth at Genoa in 12 months.
