Millwall came from behind to beat Aston Villa 2-1 in their FA Cup fourth-round clash at the Den on Friday evening.
Villa were looking to bounce back from their Capital One Cup disappointment against Bradford in midweek and looked set to do so in style when Darren Bent gave them the lead midway through the first half.
But Danny Shittu headed home from a corner just five minutes later and John Marquis netted an 89th-minute winner to send the Championship side into the last 16.
Villa started like a team under pressure and looked nervy in possession but Paul Lambert's side seemed to shake off their early worries and went ahead in the 22nd minute through Bent.
Fabian Delph robbed Liam Feeney of possession and Andreas Weimann capitalised, running on to the ball before forcing David Forde into action for the first time.
The Lions' goalkeeper could only palm Weimann's effort into the path of Bent, whose miskicked effort crept over the line to give the beleaguered top-flight side the lead.
But just five minutes after falling behind the hosts were level, as James Henry's corner found Shittu at the back post and the Millwall skipper rose to power a header past Shay Given.
The equaliser led to the nerves creeping back into Villa's game and meant the Championship promotion hopefuls went in level at the break.
A couple of set-pieces early in the second half again tested the visitors' resolve, and Feeney came close to putting Millwall ahead when he fired just wide following a corner before the hosts' momentum was brought to a halt by their own supporters.
The game was stopped for five minutes just before the hour-mark due to a disturbance amongst Millwall fans in one corner of the Dockers Stand, with several bottles thrown in the direction of the assistant referee Mark Scholes after he awarded a free-kick to Villa.
Once play had resumed Villa substitute Barry Bannan arrowed in a shot that Forde again decided to push away but this time the ball bounced to safety.
The tie looked set for a replay at Villa Park until Millwall striker Marquis headed Adam Smith's cross on to the bar before reacting quickest to nod home the rebound.
The earlier incident from the Millwall fans meant that Kenny Jackett's side had to negotiate six minutes of stoppage time before becoming the first name in the hat for round five, but they did so with relative ease to leave Lambert suffering one of his worst weeks in management.

Adam Maher put AZ ahead in the 27th minute but VVV, seeking to avoid a third successive defeat, drew level seven minutes into the second half thanks to Uche Nwofor.
However, three goals in 11 minutes immediately after settled the game as a contest as AZ stormed clear with strikes from Donny Gorter (55 - penalty), Jozy Altidore (62) and Etienne Reijnen (66).
The victory lifts 2009 Dutch champions AZ into the top nine ahead of this weekend's matches on 24 points, with VVV remaining in the bottom two.
The Premier League's bottom side QPR had a bid for the 31-year-old turned down earlier this month but it was understood that Odemwingie was keen to discuss the move.
He has now put in an official transfer request in an attempt to facilitate his departure but it has been turned down by the Baggies.
Albion's sporting and technical director Richard Garlick said: "Peter is hugely popular with our supporters and it is disappointing that he has decided to hand in a transfer request.
"It was immediately turned down and has done nothing to change our stance during January. Peter is under contract until the summer of 2014 and we have no need or desire to sell our core players.
"We want to keep the squad intact to enable us to build on an encouraging first six months of the season."
Odemwingie has responded with a long statement which read: "I'm deeply hurt and in some ways offended by the lack of reciprocal common respect from the management of West Bromwich Albion.
"During my time at the club I believe I have delivered performances, effort and goals.
"I never complained when I found out that the club failed to inform me of enquiries that might have interested me and my family in the past.
"Everyone knows how much effort and commitment I always give when I play for the club. The fans have been great with me and I will always respect them.
"Some may say I have contributed, along with all my team mates, to the survival of the club in the Premier League in recent seasons.
"At this stage of my career, this opportunity may not come around again. A new challenge, a new opportunity, and a chance to play under the stewardship of one of the most respected managers in the game (Harry Redknapp).
"I hope the management of West Bromwich Albion will accept my transfer request in the manner that I have requested it.
"West Bromwich Albion may argue that I am too vital a member of the team to allow me to leave now but I could argue that team selection so far this season has not reflected that and there is more than adequate cover for my position currently in the squad, culminating in my playing out of position.
"I have not taken this decision lightly and I would like West Bromwich Albion to accept what, in my opinion, is more than a reasonable offer from QPR for me."
Odemwingie arrived at West Brom in 2010 and has scored 30 goals in 80 appearances for the Baggies.
The Cottagers revealed the move for the 21-year-old midfielder on their official Twitter feed, with Frimpong also acknowledging it by writing: "Fulham here I come."
Frimpong has been with Arsenal since he was nine but did not make his Premier League debut until August 2011 after a succession of injuries.
Fitness problems also cut short a loan spell with Wolves last season, with Frimpong needing surgery after rupturing knee ligaments against QPR.
He went on loan to Charlton at the end of 2012 and will now see out the season with Martin Jol's men.
