Friedel signs new Tottenham deal
Veteran goalkeeper Brad Friedel has signed up for another season at Premier League club Tottenham.
Tottenham says the 41-year-old American, who joined the London club in June 2011, has signed a new contract through to 2014.
The deal was agreed despite Friedel's place in the starting lineup for league matches no longer being guaranteed since Hugo Lloris joined from Lyon in August.
Friedel tweeted: "Very happy about the new contract! As I have always said I'm very happy here and will help Spurs in any role!!"
Friedel's run of 310 consecutive matches in England's top division, stretching back to May 2004, came to an end in October when Lloris broke into the team.
Friedel made 82 appearances for the United States. He played for the Columbus Crew, Galatasaray and Brondby before moving to England in 1997 to join Liverpool.
He spent eight years at Blackburn, then three years at Aston Villa before joining Tottenham.
