Congo's French coach Robert Nouzaret has announced on a local radio station that he is resigning due to interference from the national federation in the selection of players.

Nouzaret said Wednesday on Top Congo FM the Congolese football federation ''made their vision known regarding the selection of players as well as the technical staff.'' He said those working conditions ''do not fit with my vision of things.''

Nouzaret added he had asked federation president Constant Omari to cancel his contract, and that the request was granted. Reached by telephone, Omari confirmed the coach's resignation but refused to give further details.

Nouzaret, 67, leaves the team days before a crucial 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifier in Senegal. He was appointed Congo coach in August 2010.
