Senegal striker Papiss Demba Cisse has left German side Freiburg to join Newcastle in the Premier League.
Cisse scored 37 goals in 65 Bundesliga games for Freiburg over two seasons.
Freiburg is bottom of the Bundesliga halfway into the season with 13 points and five points away from safety.
Cisse had been eager to leave the struggling club.
